Bur oaks dying in Nebraska that survived the dust bowl is noteworthy. The article IDs hypoxylon canker as the cause of death. This is likely correct but it only affects oaks at the very end of the "decline disease spiral". My guess is climate change bears more of the blame than the fungus.
