One thing I don’t see too many folks talk about is that if it’s cheaper to have your self driving car circle the block than it is to park, then you might as well let your car keep driving while you’re at dinner or a show, or maybe even for a whole day at work! Would be absolute chaos

Yesterday I had arepas for dinner before walking around the corner to get boozy eggnog with friends and then found a bar to play pool And today I get to watch the Jinkx and Dela holiday drag show! All without getting in car! Gotta love Chicago

My flight may have been delayed, but I’m still incredibly grateful that I can trust Metro to get to the airport on time and without dealing with traffic!

The compasses outside L stops are so clutch when your bus transfer is one minute away and you need to know which stop to stand at

There’s something very goofy about making sure the L is in the background to take thirst traps of your car (as seen from the Brown Line)

In NYC, recess sometimes looks like preschoolers excitedly waiting for the Franklin Avenue Shuttle to pass underneath them.

Starting October 15, six CTA buses will operate with Automated Bus Lane Enforcement systems as part of the City of Chicago’s Smart Streets pilot.

Very easy to forget it’s #AWeekWithoutDriving when you bike or take CTA every day anyway, but here I am on the train!

The thing about Chicago is you can just be walking around and next thing you know this is the view

Up early for work, and while it wouldn’t be surprising to anybody who works third shift normally, even at 4 AM there are lots of folks up early to get to work! Flight attendants, security guards, healthcare workers, transit employers… all relying on CTA to get where they need to go (including me!)

So sad that all these H Street businesses in DC are about to go out of business since there's no where to park!

The assumption here is access to a car though. As someone who almost never drives I actually found that I spent way more time outside in NYC than I did in DC because access to outdoors was so good Central Park (and many others), Hudson Greenway, MNR Appalachian Trail stop, subway to the Rockaways…

Today I got to ride a public ferry, tram, bus, and finally a metro train all in one day as part of sightseeing in Stockholm It was a good day

The Copenhagen Metro is so much fun every time I visit. A cute automated train on its surface that smoothly carries over 360,000 people per day with 24/7 service and which seems to expand every time I visit. Let’s talk about it /1

Copenhagen has a zone based system where the fare is based on the number of zones you travel regardless of mode. But it makes the payment app super easy to use as a visitor

Been meaning to write about this... I’ve had the privilege to be allowed by my employer to be behind and see to fruition our Pride Train. Every year it’s meant to be a showing of welcoming and inclusion, though started as just a train wrap and mean to run from June 1 thru at least Market Days.

Jarrett’s thread here is great, the only thing I’d add is that even if the bus can get close to the store, land use like this makes things worse for riders who aren’t going to Walmart too No matter how frequent your service, 5+ minutes on a scenic tour in a big box parking lot ruins trip times
