Almost one year ago, I started moving away from Google. It's finally done: deleted my Google account. Saying goodbye to tech evil (no more Amazon, Twitter, Goodreads, WhatsApp, etc.). It's a bit hard to do this completely because the list keeps increasing constantly 🫠 but doing my best.

The main reason why I never offload cognitive thinking to LLMs is that frictiontless output is a pernicious trap. Seems smart, but long term it's you who becomes replaceable. If the use case is to speed up useless work, it's a sign to change your life, not how you produce something to the society.

There's something about naming a chunk of information as "data" in a codebase that triggers me off. If you're manipulating it, you have a sense of what kind of "data" it is. Why not call it what it is?

Just finished reading my 3rd book of 2025: "Moonwalking with Einstein", by Joshua Foer. Such a vivid, inspiring and fun read 🤓 Loved knowing that the author got to get tested by K. Anders Ericsson. And to get reminded how our memory is far more important than we give credit for.

I'm looking for Rails teams who are interested in saving time by using Rails more and getting stellar advice delivered async. I'm running a pilot program and I'm looking for up to 5 companies to start. It's a pack of 10 emails from team members to me for $1000. Renews when used.

In just 4 days, I've added posts from 36 different Ruby developers, so this feed can be used as a starter pack of sorts. I'll keep tending to as its own little garden of good stuff. Sitting at #3 for Ruby feeds + #5 for Rails feeds in search now. Only human curated feed I know of on either topic.

My internet experience lately has had lots of searching "how to disable AI". I really hate that almost every app enables this social disservice by default without asking for my permission and I have to spend my time figuring out how to disable it 😠

Fun fact: @thd.codes wanted to play with Elixir so we decided to build www.hexdevs.com with Phoenix. A few days ago, I wanted to get it up to date with the latest versions. Last updates were 2 years ago 🤭 Just shipped the site with Elixir 1.17.3, Erlang 27, Phoenix 1.7.14 😍
