Looked into affordable housing plans in NYC for people on a fixed income. The lowest is in the Bronx and you have to make at least $30,000 a year. I’m so screwed. My parents didn’t make that in a year in PA and both of them worked.

An idea for a Gale Weathers-centered SCREAM movie popped into my mind almost fully formed. It’s times like this when not having less than any clout in the entertainment industry sucks.

There’s a book out there titled TO KILL A COOK about a female food critic in 1970s New York City. It’s so cinematic and funny. If Martin Scorsese and Nora Ephron could’ve teamed up to co-direct a movie together, they would do it from this book.

Superman over Metropolis.

Lois Lane. If only real reporters had her fearlessness and ethics.

Jimmy Olsen. Don Johnsoning it up at the Daily Planet.

The Toyman. Dramatic redesign from the guy in a suit in the comics and the plastic masked weirdo from SUPERMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES.

Mr. Mxyzptlk. Went with his classic look with a little Bill Skarsgard Pennywise the Clown throw in.

SLAYCATION didn’t advance to the Emerging Screenwriters semifinals. Oh well. Let’s see how it does in the Page International Screenwriting Awards competition.

Read BATMAN: THE LAST HALLOWEEN. Definitely deserves a second read because there’s a lot to unpack. First impression: the story’s a little uneven. Why can’t Batman figure out who all the Holidays are? Alternating artists kinda skewered the style. Chris Samnee should’ve done whole series.

Read SPIDER-MAN: BLUE for the first time. I was almost bawling at the end. Brilliant storytelling by Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale. Can’t believe Mr. Sale is gone.

Threw my back out again shoveling snow. Should know better by now, but didn’t want my 76-year-old mother doing it. Just have to put up with the sensation of a thousand tiny knives stabbing my back and legs until a bunch of visits to the chiropractor set things right.

SCREAM (1996) is my comfort movie. Should a horror movie be a comfort movie? Probably not. But it calms me down because it’s so well written.

Wrote twenty-plus pages of a script in one day. That’s how I know an idea is worth writing to the end.

If I had an extra $160 laying around I’d buy a bottle.

Writing my SLAUGHTER OF SLEEPY HOLLOW script again. Sometimes ideas hit and you gotta go with them.

There were six or seven agents, trying to harm a man who looks unarmed and still they murdered him in broad daylight. These ICE agents are venal, incompetent, cowardly and this type of execution will keep on happening because they are an unchecked paramilitary force of scared men who crave power.

Zeitgeist.

As tens of thousands across America protest the violence that ICE sows with impunity, federal agents shot and killed another person in Minneapolis today.

ICE terrorizes our cities. ICE puts us all in danger. Abolish ICE.

There should be 24/7 protests in front of the White House with everyone singing or having it played through speakers “Do You Hear the People Sing?”.

"Just stay cool and don't make trouble until the midterms" is not going to cut it as an opposition response to a murderous regime whose masked thugs are killing people in the streets and then attempting to round up witnesses and destroy evidence.

The SUPERMAN script by @jamesgunn.bsky.social should’ve been nominated for an Adapted Screenplay Oscar. It’s vivid, it flows, and his character descriptions are top shelf. He describes Jimmy Olsen’s cat-nip aura towards women as “Pete Davidson-ian”. Brilliant.

SINNERS might be the first horror movie to win the Best Picture Oscar in over thirty years.

My slasher script SLAYCATION made the quarterfinals in the Emerging Screenwriters Competition 2026. Good way to start off the new year!

When RAGTIME first premiered on Broadway in 1998, it made me see how far America has come and how we can improve. When I listened to the RAGTIME revival cast recording, I realized America in 2026 isn’t much better than America in 1902 when the show starts.

I took a photo standing next to Jimmy Stewart’s Oscar. That must make it mine now.

Movies have the power to broaden peoples’ minds in all aspects of life. Take SONG SUNG BLUE. Before seeing the movie, the only Neil Diamond song I knew was a “Sweet Caroline.” That movie made me download his greatest hits album. Now I can’t believe I’ve lived 42 years without his music in my life.
