Finished watching The Amazing Digital Circus. It was fine. Ultimately, it gets them to a point where they know what they are but then it loses narrative drive. Nonetheless, it is nicely melancholic. It's a shame they didn't bring in more of the outside.

Well, I've rewatched season 6 of #StarTrek Deep Space Nine. I remember it as having way more war-arc stories than it actually has. Most of it is not "serialized" storytelling, beyond characters remembering earlier stories, & once DS9 is retaken, the war takes a back seat. The start's great, though.

#DoctorWho The Romans: A strange mix of comedy and darker Roman tropes, from slavery to attempted rape (treated as a joke), taking in the usual multiple murders along the way. Team TARDIS casually steal throughout (squatting in a villa, thieving its contents). Very light on moral judgements.

We watched 2 movies last night: Enola Holmes 3, in which there is very little deduction going on, and Drop Dead Gorgeous, which I found bleakly humorous in a way that very much made me laugh. We then tried 15 minutes of Room With a View, with a very young Helena Bonham Carter.

Star Trek Deep Space Nine - Season 6, "Profit and Lace": Quark being a woman for a while, and no one thinking anything of it, and learning not to be sexist, could have been an OK story. But there's something off here. It ends up saying that women are driven by hormones. Oh dear. Not the best episode

Saw the Supergirl film this weekend as well. It's fine. The kids enjoyed Krypto, & Lobo's OK. The story is not overly engaging, though, & the villain is entirely forgettable. Were we crying out for a sad Supergirl? Not sure we were, really, understandable though her trauma is. It needed more.

Just watched He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. Very funny film. The kids and I loved it. It is aware of its own silliness and goes with it.

Just got a rejection from a mag saying my story was far too silly for them, but I should send something else that was less silly. My story was, indeed, very silly, on purpose. Comedy fantasy is a hard sell, it seems.

So... a Classics prof at Pittsburgh University is going to use a short sci-fi story of mine in her course on Sci-Fi & the Ancients. Firstly, that sounds like an amazing course, & secondly, WOW! The course covers Orpheus & Eurydice, & my story (published by @aanpress.bsky.social) was inspired by it.
