Edmonton needs to seriously look at doing a complete reform of sidewalk enforcement. I’ve reported 10+ skating rink style sidewalks in my neighbourhood ZERO tickets after 4 days Randomly a single report was visited by bylaw but they only gave out a warning. Just ticket!

Is begging on social media more effective than actually giving out tickets 🤔

Reducing the parking ban fine looks like it will be a disaster. We already do not ticket illegal parking enough. The majority of people understand the ban. It would mean 300,000+ in lost revenue and cost us 170,000+ in the first year. And it might not even be legal.

Montreal tows 40,000 cars each winter for obstructing snow removal. After bigger snowfalls, Montreal literally trucks snow out of neighbourhoods. It’s amazing, but it requires empty streets. Orange signs warn drivers to move their cars. If they don’t, they’ll get ticketed and towed.

Is this actually true? Wouldn’t a push to use transit actually hurt parents with young children less than other groups? Children under 12 ride free. The farmers market expanded this year and seemed busy anytime I went. You’re still paying for parking even if it’s free. It’s just subsidized.

Finally got to try V1 of a #yegbike snowplow trailer today. Did a decent job on sidewalks that had been previously cleared, but not great on the city paths that have been poorly cleared and well trod. Quite bouncy on those. Need to keep the speed up!

Looking at the Edmonton report on safe mobility. People online often complain about new residents making are streets more dangerous but that’s not true. It’s the city continuing to make cars the most convenient form of transportation.
