Just another Edmontonian. 🚲
The Westmount Centre redevelopment is bad but the worst part might be the added parking on the north side. This is going to make the shared road on 135 street even more dangerous and high traffic. The new Velodrome will become even less bikeable

Are there amazing projects happening outside of Toronto? Or do rural Ontario voters really just want a new island, convention centre, spa complex and science centre in Toronto?

Read this article in the Edmonton Journal where business owners in Edmonton's Chinatown are saying they would prefer the city not build a bus lane on 101st. Why? Because it would remove parking that is just so impossible to find! You know what!? Just for fun, lets go on google maps!

I guess the BRT plan is dead before it even gets started. Council just plans to fold bus lanes once anyone complains.

Check out the intersection where a driver hit a pedestrian going the wrong way down a one way street. Would they be doing that if the city had installed a bollard or cement median? Paint isn’t infrastructure.

The provincial government has just imposed the largest property tax increase on Calgarians in history. In 2026, Alberta is increasing its share of your property tax bill by 21.05%. Nearly 42% of every residential property tax dollar now goes to Province.

Calgary is already seeing this play out on our roads, to deadly effect. 17,000km of roads in Calgary means transit is likely not an affordable solution. Most of the city is single family homes not within walking distance of daily services. A slow moving transportion catastrophe.

Had someone complain to me about cycling on the road. Wouldn’t be there if we actually had infrastructure. I guess 30 seconds is too much of a delay in a school zone. Used it to argue for zero infrastructure gaps.

Biked out to winterburn. Not building out the LRT to the new rec centre is going to be viewed as a massive mistake. It’s not a terrible bike ride but literally no one is going to do the walk. They are just building in car demand.

Anyone who says we don’t need zoning reform because we should just build subsidized housing should go watch a public hearing on any proposed project. Edmonton city council just wasted an entire day over adding 30 affordable units.

It’s not surprising that so many anti-infill people think that everyone will flee the city because of infill. They think the new home market is fine. I’d be interested to see how many actually move though. Are new builds out in the suburbs actually affordable or as desirable as they think?

Listen to the debate on YouTube if you can. The difference between the opposed and in favour camp is stark. Hopefully this can put the debate to rest for awhile. Let people actually move into the housing. Let the LRT and bike network get built. Let’s see the vibrancy.

If you modify your vehicle to reduce visibility that should definitely be considered when bringing charges. Lift kit + junk intentionally blocking the windshield of the vehicle used in the killing yesterday in Calgary.

Left NIMBYs are so frustrating. Someone on Reddit was trying to argue that we are not doing enough to solve the climate crisis but we can’t affect neighbourhood character. This was after I said that I didn’t want to copy Vancouver’s housing market.

now has $62M/yr of new revenue from mature neighbourhood infill compared to 2016. That's over $330M added to city coffers All using the same roads, pipes, preserving farmland and enabling neighbourhood-level shops. All of this is thanks to Edmonton's pioneering approach to urban redevelopment
