The Calgary housing debate is a mess. âRepeal and replace the blanket rezoning bylaw with a more targeted, community-informed strategy that supports gentle density while building a variety of homes at a more affordable price point,â reads Mayor Farkasâs campaign website. Pure fantasy

YEG council is going to screw over our entire budget over arterial roads widening. This will do NOTHING for commuter satisfaction. 200+ million for a few minutes off travel times. No new pools, no new LRT but one extra lane.

We're continuing to build a record proportion of homes near transit. 38% of homes permitted in Q1 2026 were within 800m of an LRT stop, up from 30% for all of 2025, which was already a record. This will pay dividends for years to come, especially as transit expansion enables more trips car-free.

I thought Carney was a builder of infrastructure? With $2.4 billion, we could quickly get to incredible levels of intercity bus service. Medical appointments, family visits, vacations, etc could all be done without a car. Instead, the people who can afford a car will save ~$5 per tank.

Wish the city would be more efficient on bike infrastructure. The 100m could have been way more impactful if they had less of a focus on SUP and ineffective (but expensive) traffic calming.

Sure is odd how often a bicycle rider just happens to fall right as a driver comes past them. Every time I see a headline like this I think about how biased toward drivers our system is and how we can never ask the victim what happened.
