Today’s walk with a phone through early springtime countryside in Germany, surrounded by the calls of woodpeckers and nuthatches. It’s been one of the most wearying winters I can remember. And how we all need this renewal.

Last weekend, I went to the Musée de la Photographie in Charleroi. What a treat! Took in the temporary exhibitions by Gregory Crewsden and Cyril Albrecht before being humbled by some of the world’s most famous images…

Some images from 2018 when I was getting to know my new (old) Hasselblad. I was already a fan of square format. It was becoming an expensive indulgence then, more so now. Unsurprisingly, I use digital for commissions and am very happy with that.

Looking forward to visiting Berlin in a week and a half’s time. We’ll see if I can add to these images from 2017!

Why photography matters.

Documenting #Caergybi #Holyhead can be bittersweet… Seeing former Irene Edwards fishmonger’s repainted as part of a high street improvement feels like losing an important part of the town’s history.

Wylfa nuclear power station. Currently in the process of decommissioning, finalising as late as 2101. It is situated on the wild, north coast of Ynys Môn (Anglesey).

Azores Brutalism | Monte Palace Hotel. Built in the right place at the wrong time, the Monte Palace Hotel operated for just 18 months in the late 80s at the rim of the crater of the Sete Cidades Massif, overlooking the crater lakes.

Last night saw the opening of @roolewis.bsky.social Port Talbot UFO Investigation Club exhibition at @orielcolwyn.bsky.social followed by a talk by the lovely @nikroche.bsky.social Some of the best work to visit the gallery, followed by a talk full of love and humanity. An unbeatable evening.
