The one good thing about BlueSky being not mainlined into journo brains like Twitter used to be, is any of us could write the worst post in the world, you could come out and say you like eating cats, and get dunked by a million replies, and Buzzfeed or whoever isn't going to write about it.

My hot take is it IS a job but the job is mostly about branding, marketing and promotion. I could absolutely put together a set as good as many DJs, but it's not going to sell any tickets, because I've not done the work making DJ Rob Manuel sound like a thing that's fun rather than fucking awful.

You know which group needs to be banned from social media? Those who lack basic media literacy to know when something is a jokey hot take, or something is a serious policy suggestion that has to be earnestly debunked.

With bot posting accounts it's hard to give useful ALT tags as the code doesn't know what the image is The choice is a. Don't run the account [not good] b. Have AI burn some forest to read it [not good] c. Just give what info you have [best compromise] Amused how this one was accidentally correct

Watched Stop Making Sense last night for the umpteenth time and got so excited by the BIG SUIT I ran to the kitchen and got paper and scissors and tape and made BIG HANDS, which I'm going to incorporate into the next live Fesshole show. This is what art can do, it can expand your mind. And hands.

Enjoyed the Fesshole gig last night and also sticking Swearclock on stage as my warm up act. Genuinely love that I get to do the odd gig, not my entire life, but as a bit of treat for myself to show off in public

It was a ridiculously fun Anon Opin show last night in Leicester, which roughly achieved my aim of making it a mutant game show, and tonight it's the Fesshole show at the Sue Townsend Theatre - do come down if you're in Leicester

As social media a home for intrusive thoughts that I don't want to actually have to make: Apple FarageBand - the music app where all the preset loops are German marching music and samples of Enoch Powell saying whatever the fuck he says, ooh rivers of blood baby, an ting.

There's nothing like being away from home to be reminded that Whatsapp as a desktop app regularly wants to be updated with a massive fucking download, that's inconvenient on mobile data. Every time, I wonder how many people this has killed because some crucial message didn't reach people on time.

Just notice that somehow cut and paste works between my laptop and desktop. That is, copying on one, copies to the paste memory on the other. This is both useful and weird witchcraft and I'm troubled, like someone has walked over my grave.

There's a common thing here where people get loads of favs / shares for lolling that people are getting fooled into thinking a Magic 8 Ball is alive. But it doesn't actually matter if something is conscious or not, so much as is it dangerous? And the AI games the techbros are playing are dangerous.

Yes. It it's completely absurd opinion to not put it in her top ten. On numbers alone it's 3rd - and would likely still be no 1 if it wasn't for a recent TikTok boost for Army Dreamers and Running Up That Hill being in Stranger Things. Anyway, the point is LOVEJOY. It's a funny association.

I've always known that Kate Bush wrote Wuthering Heights after catching 10 mins of a dramatisation on the telly, but I'd never looked it up, but I'm glad I did. Heathcliff was played by Ian McShane. Yep, true story, Kate Bush wrote her best song about Lovejoy.

Hadn't noticed this, and found it slightly intriguing, in that most performers I've met, yeah they want the money, but they enjoy being on stage, and you can't get them off. But maybe he genuinely didn't enjoy it as this clip about nerves suggests.

In things no one cares about I've done an a/b test listening to The Cure's Boys Don't Cry '79 mix vs '86 mix (2026 remaster) and yeah we all know about the different vocal, but it's the bass that's the problem. The '86 mix turns down the bass guitar & loses a lot of the rhythmic movement of the song

If you build a tool, it's odd how you don't even know how it could be used, until you use it. Mucking around with a b3ta newsletter viewer that displays the text line by line, under control of the cursor. The idea was that I could try presenting it one day, and you don't want a wall of words 1/2

Knowing someone has an interesting mind is a much better predictor of whether a book will be worth reading than subject matter. Unsure quite how to sort Amazon by the interestingness of the minds of the authors however.

In things I didn't know that have slightly improved my life, you can create a link to a specific cell in Google Sheets. Yeah so what, but if you have a large spreadsheet, clicking that link is far quicker than scrolling to find it, partly as the the sheet doesn't have to load needless data

Would it be better for Starmer or worse if he said what most assume to be true: "I knew Mandelson was dodgy but we need good relations with the US, he was in with them and this is realpolitik etc"? As it is, he's painting himself as naive, which isn't a great look for a PM.
