Terrible news. I worked as a visiting lecturer at Hertfordshire in 2021 and am thinking of all the great staff and students I encountered there. Hope the decision is reversed, but it’s depressingly indicative of the direction of travel in British higher education.

Great to be back at Toronto's Fort York, where I volunteered and worked for eleven summers, for special events and talks commemorating the 1813 Battle of York.

Very sympathetic to cause of greater education but the presentation of the survey here seems misleading. 85%+ not informed about slavery but 63% of the same sample support apology? Seems like most respondents weren’t able to cite the right figures, rather than not knowing about enslavement at all…
