PRRI's 2024 American Values Survey found that less than one-third of Americans (31%) agree that the 2020 election was stolen from Trump, while two-thirds disagree (67%). The sentiment has remained stable since March 2021, when the question was first asked.

28% of Americans support laws that make it illegal to use FDA-approved drugs for medical abortion or receive them through the mail, compared with over two-thirds of Americans (68%) who oppose such laws, according to the 2024 PRRI American Values Atlas More: prri.org/research/abo...

President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address tonight is expected to focus on domestic issues, including the economy. According to the 2025 PRRI AVS, most Democrats (91%) and independents (74%) say the economy is going in the wrong direction, compared with 29% of Republicans.

PRRI finds that 42% of Americans have a great deal or some confidence in ICE, compared with the majority (56%) who have little or no confidence. Alex Pretti, a U.S. citizen and nurse, was killed by federal immigration officers — the second such killing in Minneapolis this month.

Trump said he believes civil rights era protections led to white people being “very badly treated.” PRRI finds that 39% of Americans agree that “Today, discrimination against white Americans has become as big a problem as discrimination against Black Americans and other minorities,” 57% disagree.

The 2025 PRRI AVS finds that 56% of Americans have little or no confidence in ICE, compared with 42% of Americans who say they have some or a great deal of confidence in ICE. Republicans are more than twice as likely to have confidence in ICE (79%) than both independents (37%) and Democrats (16%).

A new PRRI Spotlight Analysis examines the religious makeup of New York City, which has a higher percentage of Muslim Americans (3%) than the national average (1%). Across the city’s five boroughs, the percentage of Muslim residents varies from 0.6% to 6%. Read more:

Last year's American Values Survey polled Americans about Trump postponing the midterm elections and found that 69% of Americans disagree w/ the statement “If states cannot get voter fraud under control, President Trump should postpone the 2026 midterm elections for Congress.”

In the five years since January 6 rioters attempted to stop the certification of the 2020 election, President Donald Trump has issued sweeping pardons for those who played a part in the insurrection and continued to insist that the 2020 election was “rigged.”

The Indiana Senate voted against a congressional redistricting plan supported by Trump. According to the PRRI, Indiana residents lean Republican (36%), with 21% identifying as independents, and 20% as Democrats, while the Indianapolis metro area is 34% Republican, 30% Democrat, and 19% independent.

PRRI finds that 52% of Americans agree that the increase in funding for ICE to speed up efforts to arrest, detain, and deport undocumented immigrants has gone too far. President Trump ended his Cabinet meeting on Tuesday by criticizing Somali immigrants, describing them as "garbage.”

The Trump administration has halted all immigration applications from people in 19 countries. PRRI finds that 60% of Americans say that immigrants living in the United States illegally should be given a way to become citizens, provided they meet certain requirements.
