Couple of stats I’ve found… We’ve only led at HT in 7 league games all season - and went on to win 6 of them (the other was the draw v Sunderland). Under TF we scored 10 goals from the 171 corners we took. Since, it’s just 1 in 76 (and that was Palhinha v Wolves which I’m not sure counts?)

Just a reminder there are 9 possible outcomes across the two games tomorrow and only one (Spurs lose, West Ham) sends us down. As both games feel fairly evenly balanced you can apply 11% objective probability to worst case happening. If you’re like me you’ve been imagined that 11% to be about 50%!

On reflection I think the performance Tuesday was, on the whole, good. On balance think we were more than good enough for a draw. 2nd goal was the killer but came totally against flow of game and entirely because of an error. However, the performance was always completely subservient to result.

Fair play to Villa - they've absolutely smashed the Europa this season and won the final in some style...but this has a feel of Year 6s beating the Year 3s at breaktime. Its not much of a spectacle. I wonder how many years the PL sides will walk to victories before UEFA has to do something?

I’m slightly comforted by the pure maths of outcomes Sunday. There are 9 combinations of result (eg Spurs win x WH win, Spurs draw, WH lose etc) Only ONE of those 9 possibilities sees us go down.

Bit of historical relegation data... Since 2001 the team that has finished 17th has on 11 occasions been relegated the subsequent season (46%) Not once has a team finishing 17th ended 17th again the following year. Of the other 12 occasions all bar one team have survived for the next 3 seasons.

Couple of other stats from yesterday I haven't seen anywhere else... 1. When Simons scored it was the first time since 4th January that we'd led a PL game in the second half. 2. We've now gone 10 games without scoring from a corner (55 corners in total). That was T Frank last game.

What is it about being relegated that bothers you the most...either on a visceral or practical level? Is is the non-ending banter and mockery, the prospect of watching a lower level of football every week, that following Spurs was supposed to be about challenging at the very top?
