Went to a gaming convention, bought some rare poetry

Apparently you can just buy a coconut with a face and filled with coconut water to drink at LAX. This is existentially haunting.

There was a time, roughly coinciding with COVID, when I took a break from writing about the trans community. It felt like I was writing the same piece, over and over: I too, a lowly transgender, am also human. Looking back, it was a luxury just to feel I could stop writing it.

As a note, I'm really, really bad with names and matching them with faces. I'll remember, like, your soul and moments I've had with that fleeting figure, but you'll need to remind me to place it back in your body in my head when we see each other again after months.

I recovered from norovirus just in time to have had one stream between the writing conference and GDQ lol. 🙃

Kinda want to not do the third year at my MFA now and just, like, find a job for a year or something. I had time to process time parts of my spring quarter and don't want to be close to that anymore.

Finished a draft of a nonfiction piece about preparing for a GDQ run and what it meant to me after dealing with bullshit in the kaizo community and stuff for a long time. Excited to share, maybe soon. :)

Got a nonfiction piece to edit, got games to catch up on and a hack to build, a writing conference this month and SGDQ next month. I'm going to help with setting up Writers Week and take a class that's in part on video game writing, and maybe I'll get this podcast off the ground finally.

It was good to see Manhattan the other night before it was destroyed in celebration.

Sometimes when I'm making pasta I take a sip from the sauce jar, and I will not be shamed for this.

Still recovering from the end of game 4 and a man falling to the floor and weeping as time expired. I didn't get him in this video, but I did get a little bit from the end when I was just in awe of what was going on.

If you ever see me anywhere and think about approaching me, please do. This is mostly for gaming people but maybe also writers eventually. I'm not famous enough for it to be that annoying imo, so I love being able to brighten someone's day just by talking to them or anything like that.

Flew back to LA to go the MFA program's end of the year party. Couldn't find a ride back to Riverside, so I'm getting a ride partway and getting a $60 Uber the rest of it lol lmao fml.

Leaving for the airport in the morning. I had such a beautiful trip to NYC and met up with so many very, very cool people. What a truly breathtaking experience in line with how this entire year has been going.

My experience at hanging-out-a-thon into the book prize win into this trip to NYC and this finals game makes this probably the best year of my life. Things have just been going really, really well, and I'm incredibly thankful.

At the end of the game a man behind me feel onto his back and started weeping from joy.

Okay, it's been suggested to me to have an on-site activity at SGDQ 2027 that's a book-tour style reading and QA session. They would also allow me to sell copies of the book. Would you be willing to give up an hour of your practice-room time to join me for that and maybe buy a (signed!) copy?

MFW I have a second manuscript sitting at 55 pages (as of today) that's not finished but, wow, that's quite a few pages already.

Is there a term for a person who's dating one person in a polycule but isn't poly themselves or just isn't in that polycule otherwise? I keep using the term "end cap" to describe it as something I'm interested and, but I'm wondering if there's something else established.

Re: last pay, there's also something about being in a positive space that's primarily trans that is reinvigorating me to want to take care of myself more and, like, be around. The last couple years I've been down and been around some downer people, but I've broken away from that. This feels good.

This weekend was one of the best on record for me. Flew home, helped with a marathon, hung out with friends I don't see often and made some new ones, and even stopped off to meet my publisher and have an incredible two hour chat about the book, publishing, writing, and southeast Minnesota. 😍
