Randall Jarrell's 'The Bat-Poet' with illustrations by Maurice Sendak is a lovely read. I'm not surprised, given I've always loved The Animal Family, also by him (and illustrated by Maurice Sendak). A perfect book for anyone who wants a story about the loneliness and connection-seeking of poetry.
