Weird that the Eugene police department claims to have no involvement in federal activity, but happened to open up hiring for more officers on their Mobile Response Team in the midst of recent protests to ICE. Posted January 30th.

Democrats are seeking "reforms" like bodycams for federal agents (so they have more footage to make commercials promoting mercenary violence), marked ICE vehicles (so we can't pressure car rental agencies), stricter codes of conduct (while thousands of bounty hunters go on terrorizing us). Garbage.

Federal agents at the Eugene federal building planned in advance to show up in force against protesters on Tuesday 1/27. All regularly scheduled ICE appointments at the building were cancelled that morning, and reinforcements in riot gear were present before any vigil or protest.

So, recap: A candlelight vigil for #AlexPretti led by nurses and attended by elected officials across #LaneCountyOR was interrupted by DHS agents, lots of flash bangs, PepperBalls, and tear gas. Now, there is talk that the Eugene Police are on the way.

Today, DHS has escalated its response to protesters in #EugeneOR. I have received further reports that tear gas was deployed within the past hour. Article from the Daily Emerald ⤵️

This is the moment DHS agents came out of the Old Federal Building in #EugeneOR and flashbanged, PepperBalled, and tear gassed a nurse-led Candlelight Vigil for #AlexPretti with #LaneCountyOR elected officials supposedly in the crowd.

Getting reports that things have escalated again - agents on the roof are deploying pepper balls, there has been tear gas and multiple detentions, and one person was attacked and injured by a chud who showed up.

At the federal building in Eugene Oregon, ICE officers rushed the group vigil, Singing for Our Lives. They dragged two protesters inside, and pepper sprayed the crowd.

Portland last night, Saturday Jan 24th.

I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

I've talked to people on the ground about the strike here tomorrow, and the single thing everyone brings up is just how shockingly wide the support for the strike is. Businesses that no one would have expected to support it are doing so.

it's never the crazy weird conspiracy theory weapons. they are poisoning you with toxins they are well-documented to have. they are beating you with ordinary sticks and shooting you with ordinary guns the only conspiracy is how they gained legal immunity to do this

Good morning! I’m currently at Beaverton High School in OR where a mass student walk out has just started to demand a proactive ICE protocol for their school and district. Students say that similar walkouts were planned at multiple other high schools, including Aloha, Sunset, Southridge & more.

The jury found that both officer Tykol (defendent), and Rodriguez (deceased) were negligent, but that Tykol and City of Eugene’s negligence amounted to 45%, and Rodriguez’ 55%. The city won.

Wrongful Death Jury Trial: Day 1, Nov. 17th 2025 After the jury selection process, jurors were given their instructions. Trial began with opening arguments from both parties, and ended with beginning of testimony from the first witness.

At Eugene Federal court right now, following the wrongful death suit against Eugene police officer Samuel Tykol for shooting and killing Eliborio Rodriguez in 2019 while he was collecting recycling. This is the third day of trial (it started on Monday Nov. 17th), and we’ll be posting live updates.

1/2 Last week, the #EugeneOR City Council unanimously voted to turn off the city's Flock cameras temporarily while they research. Then, EPD Chief Skinner announced the arrest of seven people in relation to burglaries targeting the Asian community, citing Flock as key in their investigation.

At the Broadview ICE "processing facility" outside Chicago. Earlier today, federal agents unleashed chemical weapons on protesters, elected officials, a local congressional candidate, and a local mayor. Defiant anti deportation activists remain. Another protest is planned for 7pm.

All I can think about today is how one of the first articles I wrote for @lcrw.bsky.social was after me and my colleagues at Double Sided Media were forced to flee a Turning Point USA event after being threatened and then circled by the Proud Boys who has been invited to the event as "security."
