The idea that acknowledging a threat automatically makes you "afraid" is one of the most annoying conflations that "Covid is over" people make.

Re mask bans: sunglasses conceal people's identity more effectively than masks do, but everyone would object to a sunglasses ban. The difference is that sunglasses are completely normalized accessibility devices, while masks have been pathologized as part of the total erasure of the pandemic.

Re. the Columbia mask ban: imagine how absurd it would be for them to ban sunglasses worn "to conceal identity" but not "for medical reasons." How could that even be enforceable? Who determines intent? What would count as a medical reason?

It's so important to prioritize schools that have poor air quality due to environmental racism! The closer schools are to highways, which historically run through neighborhoods of color, the worse the air. Air purifiers are a racial equity issue.

We were honored to donate air purifiers to volunteers on the ground in L.A. working to clean the air at wildfire evacuation centers around the city. Working with Clean Air LA, Airgasmic LA, The ACE Coalition, and @cleanairclub.bsky.social, we got over 20 purifiers placed (and counting)!

We're so proud of what we've accomplished this year! Through an entirely volunteer-led effort, we've purified the air for thousands of people, distributed masks and high-quality tests, and redistributed 10% of the donations we receive to our comrades with LC/ME/CFS.
