For a bit of research, installed latest Unreal 5 and Unity 6 FPS starter kit in Unreal, really terrible perf for me. Tragically slow load times. Unity, initial install failed validation. FPS sample, crashed first time loading. Created a VFX graph. The gradient colour picker just keeps disappearing

No matter how many times I try to turn off this Microsoft AI nonsense, they always find new ways to annoy me. I just want to type some words and occasionally browse the API using good old fashioned intellisense. Don't clutter my doc, don't capture keystrokes, just display the text FFS π€¬

Started the particle system. I'm hoping I can do 99% of it all on the GPU, pretty much compute all the way. We have a few effects here (1) hit sparks (2) muzzle flash, which contains a couple of emitters currently. Excuse the programmer art :-)

Finished Andor season 2 on Wednesday, then straight into Rogue One. Before I knew it Iβd done the OT too π Andor started reeeaaaaalllllyyyyyy slowly but got pretty great last 5 / 6 episodes.

Your FPS has too many buttons. Tried to play Shady Knight, too many buttons. Deadlink, too many buttons. Loved the way Hyper Demon handled this with the context based action tied to a small set of inputs. I tried to do similar with SPLEENWEEVIL

Played a few AAA games today - mainly to get some UI inspiration. Sign up for some web service, link this account, pages of T&Cs, cut scene! cut scene! I do not care about any of these stories. I'm shooting baddies in Hyper Demon within seconds of launching Steam. PS Halo Guardians UI seemed nice.
