When my eyes first saw the graph, I thought it was a picture of this year's awful snow/water content of the western US, but then realized it's just a graphic of a major source of funding for my career field that studies things like this year's awful western snows.

Starting to think my "illness" is actually allergies to something in the house. This started right around the time an ice dam on our roof started melting and dripping into our walls. Does that make sense to anyone else? I don't "feel" sick and my symptoms drastically improve when I'm not home.

Given the latest NOAA CBRFC inflow forecast for Lake Powell, I dusted off this plot from my Twitter days and updated it. The Feb 1st outlook for Colorado River flows hasn't been this poor in >35 years. Even if wetter weather ahead, bottom-10 outcome likely. h/t @glenwoodrek.bsky.social

I found 20 of my scientific papers here & many student coauthors. Unless the paper is open access, these intellectual works are digested and spit out as unattributed knowledge. Worse- they are lumped with whatever random thoughts someone has mused about in chats etc. We should be fighting back.

Today I have been writing summaries of my work on road salt to take to the NYS Assembly and signing up to volunteer with the campaign of the Democratic nominee to unseat our NY-24 US Rep. It may not be protesting, but it's getting involved, damnit!

This is one of those weeks where there's too much admin work to focus on lab work much...When you chair a major committee, sabbatical freedom is hard to come by. Not to mention all my extra curriculars seem to have something this week.
