In case you missed it, I wrote a tl;dr for my series examining Suikoden 1's English localizations. The final word: the HD Remaster's translation is a definite improvement, but suffers from the same issues as the 1996 translation—namely, a lack of context and not enough editing passes/LQA.

You don't need me to tell you this is yet more good money being burned after bad. But as someone who's worked with that QA team, I'll say they're unsung heroes who truly play a huge role in maintaining SE's reputation for high quality locs and to attempt to replace them with AI is deeply insulting.

From my book about #Undertale 's official English-to-Japanese translation I'd like to expand on this for an article on my site, so if you have any examples of "imprinting" situations in fandoms, please let me know Some quick examples include FF4, FF6, Trails in the Sky, what else?

This does a wonderful job of showcasing how the Japanese text uses vivid wording and elevated diction just as much as the WotL translation. (FF4 also does this to an extent, which is another reason why I consider the DS translation to be the best both in terms of accuracy and writing quality.)

Tremendously sad news. Carpe Fulgur was the first localization outfit I can remember that focused on bringing Japanese indie games to Steam, back in the pre-Greenlight days when it was a struggle just to get Valve to take notice of you. They were real trailblazers in the indie localization scene.

Andrew Dice was a wonderful colleague, and I will sorely miss him as both a coworker and a friend. My heart goes out to Robin and all of Andrew's friends and loved ones. I'm still blindsided.
