The only relatable thing Starmer ever did was get a second cat when his kids asked him for a dog. That was an objectively correct and wise call

All famines are man-made, all famines are political. Historians of empire and humanitarianism have known this forever. Gaza is not starving, Gaza is being starved, by Israel, and this starvation is enabled by our government and by every other government that does not step in to force food and aid.

The LLM People using the term "prompt engineering" to refer to "learning what sets of words get you the results you wanted from the LLM" cracks me tf up. It really is a stupidity engine, it dumbs its users to the point that they think this is a form of engineering

My writing is festooned with em-dashes, but I make sure no-one can ever say I use genAI by including at least one 'on foot of' and one 'outwith' in every piece.

The UK's political and media class has spent years heaping sadism on trans people, and they want to do the same in Ireland next. Calls for civility and calm won't cut it. We need to fight them tooth and nail.

Séamas O'Reilly: Trans people have spent a decade being attacked in a moral panic
The poor provision of unisex children’s facilities— which reinforces gender stereotypes and inconveniences women and men both — was, incidentally, an issue I remember being quite talked-about a decade...

Are you interested in the unique constitutional principle requiring parity between loyalty and disloyalty to the state? Of course you are, it's much more interesting + much less discussed than whatever parliamentary sovereignty is supposed to be. We're particularly interested in ECRs 👇

Keep an eye out for @/afcomm.org.uk, which has just followed me and is an obvious front for legitimating anti-trans propaganda in academia, alongside potentially legitimating Toby Young’s personal front for covid conspiracy-mongering and hate

My book Power and Powerlessness in Union Ireland: Life in a Palliative State (OUP, 2024) was just published online. It is ludicrously expensive, so let me explain the basic premise of the book. If interested, please encourage your local/univ library to buy a copy.

NYT Fact Check: Starfleet, an organization that purports to champion the values of diversity and inclusion, constantly wars with the Borg, the most inclusive organization in the galaxy. Is this disqualifying hypocrisy? Maureen Dowd says yes.

My piece 'Challenging common good constitutionalism' is now published (open access) in Jurisprudence:

. In this paper, I explain common good constitutionalism , as set out in Adrian Vermeule's recent book (and his other work), and then raise several challenges for it.
