Such a well presented argument! We're supposed to be a smart country, using evidence-based decision-making, yet we give up on this principle at the first sign of resistance. Active transportation infrastructure needs to be expanded countrywide, fullstop.

This breaks my ❤️ & also enrages me. This is in my neighbourhood and I've likely seen this child on his 🚲. Even worse, there is an ideal urban trail in the immediate area where bikes aren't permitted, even for this child who is now in the hospital.

Watching Canadian cities under-fund transit is like watching them choose traffic jams, battered roads, soaring maintenance bills, mobility barriers for residents, and preventable injuries and death.

I think that's the case in my city of St.John's too. We have to be sappy level nice to make any progress at all. It's bedeviling.
