Overall impressions of @beinformed.app's live election results feature: -it mostly works + does the bare minimum -server response is slow (network call can take ~8-12 seconds), leading to cancelled tasks when the user navigates to a different screen -I love the UI for filtering and sorting but...

My main focus moving forward is on polishing the live election results feature and building UI for midterm results in November. I may or may not also pull election results from a secondary source

In SwiftUI, how would you animate specific strings? This is the desired effect, but it's created using HStacks, which isn't ideal for creating lines of text. Text() + Text() has been deprecated in iOS 26 and Text("\(Text("Hello")") is good for formatting only.

Still not sure how I feel about this UI to filter races based on probability. Selecting a SectorMark is a bit clunky (I think I can improve it somewhat) and it's pretty bad for tiny marks for the House.

Experimenting with using a 1D bar chart as a way to filter groups of races by win probability. It's a neat idea, but I think it'd be too difficult to select the smaller categories with your finger. I tried making it vertical, but some of those categories are still too small.

Dems still have quite a few states and districts they can target, as this thread explains. Importantly, *none* of these opportunities depend on Dems dismantling Black and Latino districts that were protected by the VRA.

I'm happy with the quality of a lot of the data in @beinformed.app, especially for polls, election results, race ratings, & campaign finance. But I'd like to see improvement in upcoming election data, particularly for voter ID laws, registration deadlines, polling locations & hours, sample ballots.

Starting to build views for the 2026 midterms 👀 What kind of functionality would you want it to have?

There are 33 people using the latest TestFlight version of @beinformed.app. I have no idea who they are or what they want out of the app, but I hope they're doing alright 👍

The polling average chart is done! It took some effort to reduce the lag when using chart selection, but I think it's in a decent place now (tested in the simulator and my iPhone 13 Pro).

Anyone know how to create the iOS icon shape in SwiftUI? Can I get away with a simple corner radius formula?

Made some tweaks to the poll row UI and added more details to the polling info sheet. Next up is adding some charts! 📊

Just spent an hour trying to figure out why an alert action wasn't being triggered. Turns out it works on the iOS 26.3.1 simulator but not 26.4. Not sure if that's a bug or some new intended behavior 🙃

Thanks to data provided by @the-downballot.com, I added a feature to @beinformed.app to track special election performance (specifically, average margin difference compared to the most recent pres. election) and show how that shift has changed since 2017 and how it compares to the House pop. vote.
