Could you be the next Peter Hall, Trevor Nunn or Hal Prince. Your first step could be with us. We are looking for directors or potential directors to propose plays for our 2026-27 season. But hurry, applications close 30th of September.

This was something we said again and again in interviews and talks about the Ladybird books. When you give a child something made carefully and skilfully, they feel it. A treat. “For me?” We all remember that feeling. When you give a child something half-arsed, you tell them they don’t matter.

This is a cracking book which gives you an insight into the mind of someone who is swept up with a toxic man who works in comedy, but could be your boss, brother or husband. Excellent first novel by

1971. Berlin. Germany's most controversial actor returns with a performance about Jesus Christ. As the crowd turn on him, it's very nearly his last. Meanwhile 50 years later a housebound writer becomes fixated with footage of Klaus Kinski at his most manic. October 2025.

While we are on summer break I thought we might post a few pictures of some of the theatre's previous productions. This one is from The Ladykillers from 2023.

Books read in May. Birding is a stunning novel. Monsters is a thought provoking look at difficult artists. Another Planet is a great memoir. And despite not being my taste in music Reach for the Stars is a really fun well written read.

A compassionate, empathetic thoughtful novel. Focussing on unique yet recognisable characters. You might walk by them in the street and wonder... "What's their story?"

I was so blown away by Macca on Thursday. I'm surprised to find that the song that's on a loop in my head is My Valentine. What a beautiful song! What a gift for melody he has.

Nice. It would be another nail in the coffin of the idea that if you’re famous for one thing, you’re magically good at everything. Writing a book is fucking hard. People who can do it well enough to be hired for the job need to be recognised as skilled, specialised labour.

Christmas card created c.midC20th, by George Buday, at Netherne Hospital where he was compelled live. One of many cards he designed for art therapist Edward Adamson, Buday was a professional artist & historian of Christmas cards, who had his own studio in an old summerhouse in the hospital grounds
