Had the interesting challenge of having to play just one song to communicate the overall concept of Radiohead to my Dad. What would you have chosen? Can it be done? Subsidiary info: he was a professional (classical) musician who grew up through Beatlemania. I'll tell you what I picked later...

Radiohead tickets queue kicking me out for being a bot is such an insult. One window open, no VPN, no refreshes, nearly at the front of the queue. I'm so unreasonably upset!

I think this happens because while most words are made of one or two tokens, an emoji is four unicode characters and each one is a single token. So the model will get 3/4 of the way through spelling the seahorse emoji and then realise it can't finish? Can a nerd confirm? Either way, hilarious.

Last night, I went to sleep. Wait, let me rephrase that. Last night, I went to Sleep. Specifically, an eight-hour, overnight performance of Sleep by Max Richter. One of the strangest and best bits of performance I've ever seen. A thread?

I fear
#DestinationX
is reverting to type. Clues have returned to being obvious but also on the theme of 'is it one place or the other place'. All set dressing and no real context. Cheap cliffhanger feels desperate. Ugh, I'm frustrated

Destination X is Masked Singer but for places. The clues are good in retrospect but so surrounded by intentional misdirection that it comes down to subscribing to one of three telegraphed theories and then just having it confirmed for the whole episode

Holy shit. This guy saved a PNG to a bird. (he drew a bird into a spectrogram, played that sound to a starling, and the starling reproduced it back to him with enough accuracy he got his bird drawing back in their call's spectrogram)

Maz challenged me to write a core philosophy of the Havoc Engine, the machine that powers Eat the Reich and Havoc Brigade and Goat Crashers, and: it was hard to take myself seriously! But I've had a go. It's interesting to completely back a system and argue full blast in its favour.

Zombie Game is a funny one because it's so weighted towards the humans. Zombies need to not try to win, like Amanfi, but to pick a winner, like Charlotte. It's a good game for building overall series narrative and alliances, but not one to try at home.

Everyone hates 'the dumbing down of culture' until they're presented with something that asks for active engagement, at which point a nontrivial proportion of those people will recoil like Nosferatu from a sunbeam

Koreans aren't supernaturally intelligent, nor are Brits stupid. But South Korean TV expects more of its viewers and can consequently achieve a lot more. The results are amazing. We, on the other hand, are spoonfed and viewers of The Genius are upset at having to meet the show halfway
