I finally finished book one of @worldsbeyondnumber.bsky.social. Simply, it's one of my favourite pieces of fiction I've interacted with in a few years. Its use of the form and the richness of character from a DnD game is unmatched. It is the 'great work' of DnD fiction in my opinion. Beautiful.

Writer's block, like all forms of procrastination, is about fear. Fear that when you look into your brain you'll find nothing there, fear that what you have to offer isn't interesting or funny or unique enough. The solution to it is to learn how to manage that fear, how to trust your own brain.

Entertaining myself this morning by peeking into my husband’s office while we’re both working, and if he’s not on a call, I pop into the room and sing KPop Demon Hunters songs at him and then disappear again. It’s a different song every time, just to keep him on his toes 😂

This is, and I’m not even kidding, what the Internet is for. It seems trivial, but this is a weird and delightful expression of really unusual human creativity. Academic, scientific, professional, etc. collaboration, sure. But so much of our human experience comes from just being a little strange

Part of chaperoning a field trip today included befriending two other moms who gave birth in March/April 2020. That’s such a specific moment in time, when the NICU was closed while my son was in it, when hospitals HAD to be careful but it was still hard It was kind of cathartic to talk about openly
