I just watched the documentary on the making of PFOR a few nights ago. Kyoda said he felt kinda UNSATISFIED with New Order (the original ending that was turned into a stage play/drama/manga). He wanted to do something original that wasn't just regurgitating the original with PFOR!

PFOR is explicitly about people reacting to the "new" Eureka Seven universe and going "it's not like the original! it's a fake! let's kill it!" (the Hap and Stoner scene) and about being able to write something new and original with what you're given (the myth)

it is literally about the reaction the english-speaking world (and probably japan? i'm unsure) had to the movie. "it's different, it's not like the original, it's too violent, let's kill it. screenshot unrelated, maybe.
