Today’s good news: after not flowering at all last year (probably from moving stress, among other things) my saffron bulbs are providing one heck of a bumper crop! I think maybe 15% of my bulbs have flowered so far (I have a small 18” pot), so I’m expecting a ton this year.

I forgot the good news of the day yesterday. Anyways, I got a work project done three days ahead of schedule, without crunching, and while letting myself take rests. Very proud of myself for that.

It really depends on the system, like others say. Narrative-focused systems can usually handle party splits (to a point) just fine. Tactical combat systems (and D&D is typically run this way) really don’t, not the least reason being because of GM prep.

I feel this a *lot*, especially after the last few years…

Today’s good news: swept, vacuumed, and cleaned house, did five loads of laundry (aftermath from the fur-children having fleas), and kept myself hydrated.

Taking a page out of my partner’s book, in today’s good news: I perfect-cleared a sequence in Beat Saber on Expert difficulty that has thus far eluded me. Also, Coco curled up in my lap and fell asleep while I was doing dayjob work.

I am picking up Doot Blaster (HH) in MH Wilds and I gotta say this is the silliest thing in the world and I love it.

I’m coming from LARP, but yes. I have a character who has massive traumas, and they inform every aspect of how she interacts with other characters from violent reactions to being surprised to nightmares to never wanting to be without her security blanket weapons.

I did much the same. It’s how I started reading really cool sci fi which sparked my interest in math and physics. My parents also snuck in plenty of reading more tailored for kids, too, such as The Way Things Work and How Do They DO That?

My copy of The Way Things Work was so transformative for me as a tiny Cat. I read the heck out of it and would do so again even as an adult. It’s informative, accessible, and engaging.

Yeah NGL I am struggling even though my personal life is going oddly well. Just waiting for the sword to fall, I guess.

LARP thought: layers should feel empowered to take charge of their stories, to propose truths and drive action, rather than just reacting to whatever the GM throws at them. Obv. There is a balance to be struck, but so many LARPers (and ttrpg players) are so passive/reactive it drives me up the wall.

I feel like one of the biggest innovations of ttrpgs was essentially just acknowledging that the GM is a player as well. I don't think we're all fully there yet, but it's heading in that direction, and the bakers have been well ahead of the curve for a long time now
