This is my favourite game. Every part of it sucks, but each part sucks in a way that GESTURES TOWARD something that would be awesome were it not undermined by every other part. I'm a big fan of footnotes in general, but I think they can work well in roleplaying games despite the challenges. They're a great addition where they're used in Burning Wheel.

We could all do with a bit more thinking of the mood we're trying to invoke when it comes to the underground/underworld spaces of dungeon games.

I've thought vertical maps were cool since I first saw them in the original Deep Carbon Observatory. They're not appropriate for all situations, but we should use them more often! It encourages us to think in ways we might otherwise not.

Pit traps are a classic and these are some good examples.

I continue to be impressed by the mood and imagery Zedeck manages to evoke with very few words. It's a terse writing style that I really appreciate!

Carouse! Carouse! is a great monthly newsletter and this is a good example of the kind of thing you can find in it.
