The killing of Alex Pretti is a heartbreaking tragedy. It should also be a wake-up call to every American, regardless of party, that many of our core values as a nation are increasingly under assault.

On the ICE shooting. 1. It's terrible. 2. Too many disturbed people have access to too many guns in this country. 3. Too many political figures use incendiary and dehumanizing rhetoric. By far the most significant of them is the president. The fish of political violence rots from the head down.
