I have a theory that AI-assisted programming reduces the value of abstractions like React a little, since you don't need to optimize as much for avoiding tedious state synchronization code (tedious code is less tedious now) Given that, I wonder what the best JS libraries are for building with LLMs?

Exactly this. These tool reduce barrier to entry. While it means everyone can do something, that doesn't indicate everyone is as talented as the most advanced person. It doesn't hurt or harm those who are at the top of their game 1/3

Been trying the new GPT-4 class Amazon Nova Pro on a bunch of idiosyncratic non-coding hard tests against Claude: the Lem Test (writing a near impossible poem), parsing a map of castles, interpreting ambiguous Shakespeare. In general it is quite good, but not as good as Claude in any test, yet.

So 3 of my recent vals are part of the newsletter. There are lot of them I created but didn't publish, but Val is my go to tool for prototyping and seeing the possibility. If I can do it in val.town, I can scale it up anywhere....

One thing I fail to comprehend: why does Microsoft insist on shipping Recall to every Windows machine? It's a blocker for me to even consider Windows. Such a local spyware feature will always be a privacy and security risk: and if it's my OS, I don't want anything like this running on it.

Anyone find themselves frequently using o1-mini? I've developed a bit of an intuition for when to use o1-preview - for things like gnarly debugging, or problems where spending some time "reasoning" through options might help I don't have any intuition at all yet for when to try o1-mini instead

The more experience I gain as a software developer the less tolerance I have for the idea that something doesn't need documenting if you can go and read the source code instead (That's despite getting much, much better at reading source code to answer my own questions as I gain experience)
