And why my blood kind of boils with the rise of new review formats that toss out opinions on as many games in as short a time as possible (looking at you Dice Tower). It just reinforces this consume and forget aspect of the hobby that feels horrible for designers.

Taught & played Tea Garden w/wifey tonight. Enjoyed it even more than my first play. There are a lot of action options each turn but figuring out the ideal path can be challenging. Plus, I love the look & color scheme of the game. (@capstone-games.com)

Organizing my board game collection, once again facing the fact I don’t have enough room for them all. I’ve already culled/sold many, but others have to go. How do you decide what stays and what goes? Particularly with games you enjoy more but are likely to get played less than others.

Sometimes I think about how many of the masked ICE agents today were crying and refusing to wear a mask in public five years ago. Guessing that Venn diagram is a circle.

So why isn't everyone an artist? #1 It takes work! (But the work is the point) #2 Capitalism doesn't respect or reward artistic careers. AI does not address that issue, and in fact is automating creativity so we can all better serve capitalism by stuffing boxes at an Amazon warehouse or whatever.

Of all the bullcrap around AI (and there's a lot), the bullcrappiest is the "democratization of creativity" line. Artists don't greedily hoard their skills. Heck, they are one of the most generous communities in the world in freely sharing their experience and knowledge...

Last night’s game plays…. Starting things off with Endeavor: Deep Sea. @grandgamersguild.bsky.social Really enjoyed this one. Smooth gameplay, quick to grasp rules, great art. It’s one I almost instantly wanted to play again to test various strategies. Lots of replay value with this one. 1/4

I realize I am very late to this, but watched Kpop Demon Hunters with my daughter tonight & it is really good. Even if it doesn’t seem like your vibe, I’d say to give it a chance.

Always invigorating to see people band together for positive change, especially with *everything else* going on in our country/world. I love these glimmers. Now, publishers- stop doing boneheaded stuff!

I dream of a day when the board game hobby is as welcoming & inclusive as many in the industry pretend it to be. Meanwhile let’s create the gaming environments we wish were everywhere, keep listening, keep learning & keep fighting alongside those who have been marginalized. I know I can do more.

You love to see it! The power of collective action and using our voices to call out the injustices that face our boardgame hobby. While Devir has delivered in a reasonable statement—CGE still has yet to prove the same swiftness of earnestness, trust, or accountability towards the community.

Good to see Devir step up and take accountability for their mistake, even if the solution will be costly for them. CGE- take note. However The Dice Tower has removed their Ace of Spades review video entirely. It is odd that in 2025 we must explain taking no political position often is a position.

We were recently made aware of disturbing and offensive artwork in the new game Ace of Spades by Devir. We have contacted Devir regarding this matter. Fellow hobbyists: we must strive to be better humans. We can’t simply “look the other way” when an issue doesn’t affect us directly.
