Got an MRI and found out that I have a L5-S1 disc protrusion, and that's why my back's been wrecking me. It's gonna be a long road to recovery with physical therapy, but at least I finally know what the problem is. Game devs: don't sit at your desk for hours without getting up, it's not worth it.

Man, it's hard not to feel overwhelmed working in the indie space with the saturation of excellent games coming out. I love the work that I do, and I'm gonna do everything I can to keep it going. But the fact that so many people feel this way and not all of them can sustain themselves bums me out.

Finally started playing Darkest Dungeon! I'm really enjoying the character stories this game creates with your adventurers. I named a guy after myself, only for him to immediately get mashed into to paste by mushroom zombies. Rip Nick Shooter, perhaps things will go better for Nick Shooter 2.

Currently designing an encounter for Mouseward built around a moving tower you can both ride on top of and inside of. I'm making good progress, but man, why did I do this to myself? 😆 I'm just a sucker for puzzle box encounters with a bunch of moving parts I guess.

Been using the Pomodoro technique lately while I'm working. Originally I tried it to help with back pain by getting up to walk around periodically, but it's actually been good for my focus too. 25 minutes doesn't sound like a lot, but you'd be surprised what you can get done if you stay on task.

Gonna get a bit sentimental on main, but I'm incredibly grateful that I'm at a point in my career where I can work on a game that combines all of my biggest influences into something I'm genuinely excited to show people. No idea how long I'll get to keep doing this, but for now I'm having a blast!

My 2 cents on the games difficulty discourse is that people dramatically underestimate how stubborn gamers are when it comes to turning down the difficulty. With Void Sols, most of our players stuck with the default difficulty even if they were struggling and knew about the accessibility options.

2025 really is a generational year for indie games whose budgets strain the definition of the term (Just rolled credits on Hades 2 😆)
