Been a bumpy term. Navigating academia with grief has been almost impossible at times. Teaching has taken so much more effort and been exhausting. 'Performing' in lectures and tutorials, being the calm, organised, trouble-free, dependable person in the room for my students has been so hard 1/n

You can do this right now: Think of a person who wrote a paper you love, whose work influenced or helped you, or has made your professional life better. Search up their email address. Shoot them a quick email of thanks. It means so, so much. This is a rough time of year, share some joy.

I've seen an entire year of this tree at Sheffield Botanics. It's a beautiful tree, I love spending time near it. In the current world, it's important to take time to appreciate the wonder still here 🥰

On my tenth and final train of the week! Been on a mix of Grand Central, East Midlands, Cross Country, Northern and LNER. All left on time, not all arrived on time. East Midlands most comfy, LNER cleanest... Cross country in need of some upgrade of furnishings or at least a very deep clean!
