So dogs just have an instinctual thing for shoes, huh? A dozen or more chew toys & this boy finds the teenager’s fuzzy slipper.

Charlie is not a big fan of baths, it turns out.

It turns out puppy teeth are a lot like kitten teeth, they feel like needles & can break skin. Which is generally manageable by distracting with chew toys. Until you’re lying on the floor playing with the dog, and he decides his next chew toy is going to be LAUNCHING TEETH-FIRST AT YOUR FACE.

Charlie is almost entirely camouflaged by the fall leaves. 🍁🐶

Took Charlie to our vet to get his latest shots & all that. They deemed him perfect, and the tech took him in the back to meet everybody because he’s so cute. Then he took a 💩 on the exam room floor and fell asleep in my lap. 😂

I’m figuring out this puppy’s routine, and it mostly seems to be either 100% all-out crazy zoomies or sleeping. Zoomies will resume when he wakes up. 😂

Ways in which puppies are like babies: Charlie played like a maniac this morning, then started whining. I picked him up & swayed until he fell asleep in my arms. Then I set him down & he immediately woke up. 😂 My human children did this EXACT thing.

I swore up & down I’d never get another dog. Turns out I’m a liar. Everybody, meet Charlie.

This boy usually doesn’t even like me, but he slept next to me last night and he’s keeping my office chair warm today. I think he knows I need the extra love. I’ll take it. Gonna have to steal that chair back eventually, though.

Because I need to change the topic to something lighter: last night my mom was recounting the pets my kids have lost in their lifetime. “And what kind of lizard did you have? A Komodo dragon?” WTF, Mom! It was a BEARDED dragon! Like yes, I just had a 160 pound reptile living in my house, NBD.

Roxie passed away peacefully this afternoon. We were lucky to have a house call so she could be at home surrounded by her people. We’re obviously devastated, but also relieved to know she isn’t suffering.

Stoned out of her mind on Gabapentin. My poor girl. I hate this.

Roxie is the first dog I’ve ever owned. I know our pets don’t outlive us, but hearing the word “cancer” is still a gut punch. So is telling your kids about it. We don’t know how much time we have left with our sweet girl, but rest assured she’s getting ALL the love and ear scritches for now. 💔

My 14 year-old daughter decided to make a VERY poor life choice and “lighten” (aka bleach) her hair without permission/supervision. Her hair went from dirty blonde to orange. Cue me scrambling to find a salon who can fix this today & wondering how much it’s going to cost me.
