I would say, as someone who received an emergency c-section, I have never seen the NHS move with such speed and efficiency. It gave me a new found respect for it and everyone involved. The after care on the maternity ward? Not so much

"some have told the BBC they are concerned a culture of fear in maternity units and among pregnant women is driving up the number of procedures." I don't understand this since the rise is in emergency c-sections so it's not the preganant women asking for them?!

Voting in the BMA ballot for SAS doctor industrial action, and voting "yes". In all of the previous rounds of IA, SAS doctors have covered for resident doctors, we have covered for consultants, and we have kept the service safe. Our "reward" for this is that we have been forgotten.

One of my many middle of the night thoughts: as a lay person, if there was a medical emergency I would call for a doctor and then breathe a sigh of relief when they arrived. What's it like being the person called? When everyone else is exhaling because you’re there, you need to step up.

Why don't we have paediatric GPs? Not asking because I think GPs don't do an excellent job with children but more because wouldn't it lighten the workload and allow those who wanted to specialise more to do so?

I asked Radiographer if she'd ever had a CT scan. She hasn't so I said it's a shame they don't, to see what it's like. "I don't really want the radiation," she said. Which made me think - at what point does that risk outweigh the benefit for someone like me where you're checking for cancer?
