Farm Suppressors in Marathon: Traxus Capstone Upgrade (ROOK starts with Enhanced Weapon). Often: a Suppressor / a Suppression Dampener. Exfil, build up surplus of Suppressors. Use those to clear 'loud' Contract objectives in real matches that would normally draw players via gunfire.

One thing I really love about Marathon is that every "game mode" as it were has its own purpose, vibe and value. When Nightreign came out I was instantly on the wavelength of "playing teams makes you better solo and playing solo makes you better in teams" and Marathon is a lot like that as well.

THIS is my issue with the “quarter muncher” critique of arcade games The same cynicism isn’t applied to some of the practices we see in console games. It’s even ENCOURAGED sometimes. I’ve literally watched some people complain about loot being too easy in some Diablo/PSO-like games for example

“Rail shooters can’t work in 2026” “Games have to have 1000 hours of ✨content✨ to be valuable” “If a game has no elaborate story, then what’s the point” All of these types of statements are spiritually related to that same mindset by the way. It is sad to watch.

I don’t think arcade games are The One True Answer™️ of game design even though I love them a lot. And they inform my taste. But I DO NOT like how people default to seeing arcade design philosophy as “dated” That shit is very annoying actually
