I've been using Claude Code to analyze Instruments output and optimize any SDK (EmojiKit) based code from the time profiler logs (after fixing Claude's sneaking in of AnyViews and other changes I didn't ask for). The SDK is now very fast on iOS, but the macOS app lags a lot more.

Trying to optimize SwiftUI grid performance with Claude Code has been an ever eluding illusion of fixes almost working. Such a waste of time.

I'm SO impressed by Xcode and Apple Intelligence rn! When I was to publish an app, archiving a Swift package suddenly crashed with a super broken log. Despite this, Xcode did find that the problem was a disfavored overload in an external package that caused the compiler to crash.

Had an interesting discussion with @danielsaidi.bsky.social about protocol isolation. Extensions that also need MainActor push you in one direction, but it's still a trade-off. Both options can make sense. Would have been a documentation problem before, but is now a type system problem.
