Went through some vestry books for Templemore today. The regular payments for sending foundlings to the hospital in Dublin & then for clothing and maintenance made me sad. This was early 19th century.

Wishing this entire branch of my family tree had spent 300 years somewhere the record keepers had better handwriting 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫 #genealogy

I understand that records can be puzzling and people want to find simple answers to ease the confusion. But we can gain much more information from historical records if we understand the purpose for which they were created, and the process by which they were created. /1
