This is a civil war. A cold one that must be fought peaceably and politically if the country is to survive. But that is the scope and scale of the fight we're in. Between evil and those of us, as flawed and divergently motivated as we might be, who stand against it.

As I've said before, what we're dealing with fundamentally here, and have been dealing with for some time, is evil. Our political norms and political media prohibit talking about a mainstream political faction this way. But it is the truth. It needs to be known and it needs to be said.

Could not agree with this more. When my word count goal was super high and I had a day I knew I wouldn't have time to hit it, sometimes I didn't write at all. I don't even use a WC goal anymore, just "do something on the novel," and my work rate has never been higher.

There is nothing I miss about filmmaking more than when an actor does something unexpected with the script or the blocking, something you’d never think of in ten lifetimes but now you can’t imagine them not doing. You feel like you’re floating. All the best parts of art-making are like this.
