I do accept Chaotix Casefiles as canon, but it has a little continuity snarl of Vector meeting Sage for the first time in both it *and* CrossWorlds. Not a huge deal. Any sufficiently long-running series will have contradictions here and there, and optional pre-race dialogue can be ignored I guess.

When I was a kid, I was super excited to get Mario is Missing and had no idea it was an educational game. I just assumed it'd be a platformer like SMW where you played as Luigi.

I remember learning about the Hays Code in film school and how it made it so that any amoral protagonist had to meet karmic justice by the end of the film and going “wow, that’s really silly” and then once a week I log online and see people argue that we need stuff like that now or it’s problematic

I used to think people (including myself) who thought Eggman saying "Yosh" was funny thought so because they were English-speaking fans who didn't speak Japanese. But then Korone cracked up and imitated Eggman's "Yoooosh" so I think it's just universally funny.

The Chaotix Casefiles is legitimately really good. I know it doesn't count as a "TV show," but if I were ranking it with the other Sonic cartoons it would be pretty high up. It definitely feels more representative of the games than, say, the recent Sonic Prime did.

I think the biggest damage to the art community was the obsolescence of gallery sites (y!, deviantart, etc) and the rise of scroll-by social media, like twitter and even tumblr. Art is not ''content'', you shouldnt need to post art every day (or every month!) to be relevant. This mindset sucks.

Back around Sonic Heroes, Iizuka really wanted to retcon the Chaotix as "new" characters with no prior connection to Knuckles. I'm glad the series has reversed course and doubled down on the fact that Knuckles' Chaotix still happened.

X Eggman kept being used as a wise man who gives advice that characters don't want to hear, but nonetheless *need* to hear in the moment. For a main villain to have that role is really interesting, and it's definitely something I wouldn't mind seeing them try in the games.

Birdo kind of strikes me as a minion for hire rather than having any dedicated allegiance to anyone. She's worked for Wart, Valentina, Popple - she even worked as a decoy for Peach. She's sometimes Mario's ally, sometimes an enemy, but it's never personal.
