At this point, I would Just keep riding it until you need to change everything. I sometimes play it that way myself. The reason they tell you is if you take it in and they just replace the chain, it will almost certainly not shift well. A “new wine in old wine skins” scenario.

As a lifelong bike mechanic I can tell you with full confidence that you waited too long to simply replace individual components before they wore out. For example: you can regularly monitor your chain stretch and reduce the wear on your gears by replacing it early. If not, they all wear out.
