It is an interesting thing that people tell me, as a pastor, “I’m sorry” when I tell them that I have a funeral to officiate. Being present for people’s death and grief, both in and outside of liturgical spaces, is honestly a grace and gift I am given in my vocation.

There is no amount of hot beverages (coffee, cocoa, tea, cider, mulled wine) that is too much in these cold days of winter.

In contrast, dogmatics begins with revelation in God’s free self-disclosure in Christ rather than in an inerrant text or a natural-theology account of divine attributes. The Bible is a genuine creaturely witness that God uses, not a static deposit of propositions available to any neutral observer.

Very tired of the mostly white perspective in this country that wants to put all things, particularly political things, on a binary. There are more than two sides. It’s not a line where center is best. And leftists are NOT the same at the Alt Right Christian Nationalists.

Given the way that various justice issues get affiliated with partisan politics in the US I understand why people get upset about politics in church, but here’s the thing, issues of human rights, social justice, and peacemaking are political and they of the upmost concern to Jesus.

I understand people being upset about the ballroom & the demolition of the east wing of the White House, but it does no good to see Democrats taking the Press Secretary’s words about Trumps priorities out of context. They are playing on our frustration & anger, but in a way that isn’t truthful.

IF there is a group of people to blame for the struggles and injustices in our country at this point it’s the wealthy. That being said I don’t think the wealthy alone are to blame. Too often many middle and working class people buy into the lies the wealthy sell.

Honestly I’m disheartened by the number of progressive Christians I see that seem to be engaging AI with little to no prior engagement with the ethics of AI use. This includes but is not limited to the environmental impact of the data centers that support AI.

Anytime the religious authorities of any age side with the powerful, the wealthy, and the privileged over the poor, marginalized, and oppressed they participate in the crucifixion of Jesus.
