Jeanne D'arc has powerful dialogue.

Finished FFT Classic last night. It definitely runs fast with 0 lag and faster processing in general. They fixed every bug I could think of except for stealing from Gaf. The 1 major change I saw is that they made the sluice battle end when you kill everything instead of forcing you to hit switches.

I booted up classic mode FFT and the game feels faster; ai thinks less, menus seem a bit snappier, and you can skip cutscenes. I haven't played the game in ages, so I might be imagining it. It does have sfx issues, somewhat muffled and some emu style twang to them.

This is why you cannot trust YouTubers and publishers in the retrogaming space. This 2025 megadrive game presented as "better than most snes game" has assets traced over existing sprites (Wild Guns and Shinobi III) and AI-generated backgrounds. Garbage game, garbage company, garbage shill youtuber.

I think the final verdict on Grandia 3 is that it's kinda bad, but the combat is great and makes up for everything else. It's a game made for people who have played the rest of the series since the boss fights are actually difficult. Even random encounters are dangerous at times.

I might stream Age of Empires 2 in April when the big patch hits. The game is warping in an odd way where they're changing and replacing so much stuff that it's basically a Theseus paradox. Civs that have been mostly the same since vanilla AOE2 are having new units added + major balance changes.

At the moment I'm not feeling that hate for Grandia 3 is warranted, but I'm only like 9 hours in. It has potentially the best combat in the series with a dip in story/characters/music compared to the rest of the games. It kinda just feels like going from a 9/10 game to a 7/10 game, but still okay.

The Wild ARMs XF journey is over. It had some really cool class synergy stuff and often forced you to change up your team comp to clear certain maps. It was unfortunately padded beyond belief and went too heavy on the gimmicks. Lots of funny moments, though.

City of the Wolves is yet another example of a modern fighting game adding an annoying hyper armor move that you have to lab to learn counterplay. The game is still great, but the trend is obnoxious. At the very least each character has a unique version of the move instead of it being univeral.

I guess Twitch highlights will now be purely for latest speedrun PBs. Any tech vods/challenge runs/etc will be moved to my youtube. The 100 hour limit is an extremely low amount, it's actually insane. Even partners and turbo subs get the same amount.

It sure is funny that City of the Wolves, KOF13 rollback on steam, and Ogre on Uni2 all get released at the same time. KO13's console beta also took place during SF6's release, so SNK just doing weird things with dates.

While normally new FF6 tech is yet another way to break the game, the latest tech is holding left during a cutscene and starting 2 tiles closer to your destination.

I think Wild ARMs XF is going to end up being a forever game since I'll be playing City of the Wolves beta next weekend and still need to find time to fit in speedrun stuff.

Final thoughts on YIIK IV: it's bad.

After almost 7 years including a long speedrun break, we got Mega Man 8 back again after a tough, mostly offline grind. GG!! Stream watch party this evening~

Between this and Aquapazza coming to Steam, Million Arthur rollback is still at a 0% chance and you can't convince me otherwise.

I love Shadow Hearts: From the New World

I've had quite a few IGT runs that I think were better than this (typically worse phantoons and cleaner mid to late games). But I held together a godlike phantoon fight good enough to get this :) I will post the run's youtube link here after I get it public. Tomorrow night probably.

99 Agility is ok

I think overall the new Shadow Hearts: From the New World route using Hilda agility glitch isn't as dumb as I initially thought it would be, but it definitely removes almost all risk involved in the 2nd half. You can still get blown up for missing rings, but you're always guaranteed a turn.

Routing an rpg that is constantly lying to you and has bugged stats is peak gaming.

The Mobliz basement in World of Balance has a hidden entrance that leads to the cave where the kids + Terra are. This lets you fight Phunbaba as early as Sabin scenario! Unfortunately upon exiting the cave you get stuck in some boxes, and there's no way to exit the cave otherwise. Fun discovery!

Million Arthur Iori is able to make better use of the linked EB activation to reduce scaling. Needing proper spacing and 5 mana is an issue though. You can still get 8.3k for 2 mana.
