We’ve been watching Ghibli movies in preparation for our Japan trip, and they’re all just so amazing. Miyazaki is such an incredible storyteller.

I made a tabletop roleplaying game this week. I mean, I wrote most of it a year ago and then forgot about it… but I did all the illustration and layout this week and now it’s a real thing you can buy.

On Monday, I did not have a book. Today, I have a book. It’s off to the printer and I’ll have it physically by mid-week, just in time for @terminalcitycon.ca next weekend. Being an artist is awesome. Now if I can just figure out how to pay my bills…

I’ve been drawing a bunch of cool stuff lately and I just realized what an incredible privilege it is to be able to create without the need for AI. Like, I want to make a cool dinosaur and I just do it. Bug monster? Fucking done. No one can stop me and I don’t have to pay a subscription fee.

The problem with being married and having two children is that I love them very much, but it’s way too early in the morning to have to deal with other humans.

I made a silly 8-page TTRPG zine. Sure you could just play D&D, I guess… but where’s the fun in that? Just doing a couple more pieces of art and a final edit or two and then I’ll throw it up online for purchase, if anyone cares.

ReBoot, Beast Wars, Shadow Raiders. Mainframe was not messing around in the 90’s/Early 2000’s. While they were literally pioneering the medium, they made some of the best written shows of the era, animated or otherwise. The animation may be dated at times, but the storytelling is timeless.

Mando and Grogu looks like a bunch of fun Star Wars ideas. Same as the show. I am personally very excited for me and the type of weird Star Wars adventure stuff I like. However, I am concerned for how it’s going to play with a general audience and what that means for box office and future films.

Few things are as satisfying for me as simply not watching these Game of Thrones spinoffs. If you enjoy them, I’m happy for you, but they’re not for me. And every time I see a post about them, I’m just so pleased I don’t have to care.

In the end, it's just a transposition of my favorite cartoon (by Tom Toro, in The New Yorker, 2012) into reality. They've just replaced environmental destruction with the concealment of pedophilia. In any case, it's always the children who pay the price. It's always the same tragic story.

Anyone watching High Potential? Season one was so good… season two feels like a completely different show. This is gonna sound like a hackneyed observation, but for fuck’s sake, is it being written by AI? It’s like a bad imitation of the first season.
