Could go on all day about his acting and my favorite movies, but also, is there anyone who did as much to foster and promote generations of American independent filmmakers? What a gift to us all.

As someone whose job puts me in contact with nurses and physicians daily, I generally avoid medical dramas. Most are silly. But I adored The Pitt for its dedication to realism—not only in the clinical situations portrayed but in the very human characters at its center. A really well done show.
