For all the good it's going to do, I called Jeff Hurd's office to complain about the bill. Didn't follow best practices. Brought up multiple issues, cursed a bit, called him "a fucking murderer" - all things I know are NOT effective political advocacy.

As someone who has worked in customer service for 17 years, I cannot quite articulate how viscerally upsetting it was that "Date Everything" (a lovey game I quite enjoyed) gave its main character a BFA in customer service.

The problem with "don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good" is that it only ever swings one way. People say it not because they believe it, but because it's a useful rhetorical bludgeon. They don't actually want "the perfect." They think "the good" is perfect.

There's a euphoria that comes over me when I'm about to finish wtiting a book, but it wears off almost immediately AFTER I finish writing a book.

When I finished the first draft of my novel, I had a complete novel. When I started my second draft, I broke that complete novel, and now I have three incompatible thirds of a novel that I need to somehow stitch together. If I can pull it off, it will be better, but I worry it won't be worth it.

My dream is that I will one day become successful enough to be freed of the curse of ambition.

I enjoy my job, working the night shift at a hotel, but it does have its annoyances. People will sometimes ask me "is your parking lot safe" and I just want to say ,"You are a human being who has lived on this planet long enough to know there's no responsible way for me to answer that question."

The funny thing about being a vegan is that I've never made a pro-vegan argument that I didn't plagiarize from my internal monologue back in my meat-eating days, but despite expressing a completely anodyne sentiment, when people hear it from a vegan they act like it's impossibly radical.

The trick to a good vegan pizza is disarming simple - skip the vegan cheese. All it does is remind you that vegan cheese melts weird. Just sprinkle a bit of vegan parmesan to give it a cheese flavor.
