I like Steam. But I am skeptical about the new hardware and the way Valve seems to be going. I owned a Steam Deck and I gave it to a friend in favor of the Lenovo Legion Go. I think the draw for PC gaming is in its versatility and customization, and I worry that Valve is going down the console path.

Sleeping Dogs is a game I often forget about when people ask me what my favorite games are. And I will carry that regret to my grave. It's SO good. I think it's cool that in Sleeping Dogs you have two separate XP meters. One (cop) starts at full and one (triad) starts at zero. You gain points in triad by doing cool combat stuff and you lose points in cop by breaking laws or injuring civilians. Neat game design.

People talk shit on MWIII's campaign, but I like it. The open combat zone missions are infinitely more replayable than the standard corridor shooter stories the games have told previously. You've got your objectives and you can search around for supply boxes that give you new things to use next time

One thing I hate in the Call of Duty franchise post modern warfare reboot is the fact that every single game tries to have no weapons stealth mission like 2-4 times a campaign. It never works because the FOV is awful and they always find a way to make you take 400% more damage than a normal mission.

Just finished CoD Vanguard campaign. Shame this one will never get a sequel. Its ending implied a lot of fun stuff, including the potential for zombies to make an appearance in a campaign setting, which could have been neat. But people are just REALLY sick of WWII. And the multiplayer wasn't great.

"We've got a job to do" is Black Ops Cold War's "Would you kindly" and it works. Not necessarily as narratively impactful, but still interesting. I really enjoy Treyarch's take on the campaigns of Call of Duty. There are often more puzzles, more intrigue, and more easter eggs than other CoD titles.

Ronald Reagan is in this game. They got a really good voice impersonator but the character model looks like they made his wax figure from the Hall of Presidents get up and move around.

Just thinking about the heyday of Call of duty. The 1st Black Ops. You beat the campaign and then JFK, Nixon, Castro, and Secretary of Defense, Robert McNamara are negotiating at the Pentagon when zombies breech the perimeter and JFK hits a button and the wall rotates to reveal an armory. Fuck yeah.

Basically you get three kinds of Call of Duty game these days. Modern Warfare: What if Jason Bourne was everybody and also we danced around real world politics? WWII: Games that dare to ask if you've ever seen Hacksaw Ridge or Saving Private Ryan. Black Ops: Let's have a little fun with this one.

Absorbing military propaganda (playing through the last 6 call of duty campaigns) and for all the shitty stuff, these games can really do a cinematic set piece. This is probably as photoreal as games can get. The performances are stellar. The shooting is fun. They're just fucking blockbusters, man.
