I like bourbon in moderation and sharp cheeses in excess.
I mean, what else do you call this but an insurrection? Theyshould feel lucky to be shackled in prison for the rest of their lives.

I'm doing title work on a property in PA. The one deed says that the previous owner was an adjudicated missing person, so in like "sounds interesting." I look him up and he faked his own death in 1994 after he almost got busted for a fraud scheme. Moved to CO and did the same thing over again lol

Good, necessary... also blindingly obvious and a bit belated. God I hope Bouie writing it for NYT can help get it through the thick skulls of the oldest, most powerful Democrats though.

Notable that no relevant actor in the U.S. executive branch has displayed a similar degree of integrity over the boat strikes. Bravo, Pelley.

section 2 of the VRA? nullified? the 15th amendment? only applies to intentional discrimination. intentional discrimination? impossible to prove given an unbreakable assumption of good faith for a state legislature. 14th amendment? equal protection clause means the constitution can't even see race.

the best part of the new Alabama case is that it is unlawful to remedy intentional racial discrimination unless you can find a remedy which achieves exactly the same result without being racist

a reminder that Amy Coney Barrett wrote a paper about how it is important for a conservative jurist to hide their power level until they can destroy the Reconstruction Amendments.

American journalism and the American legal establishment are very similar actually; both demand all the rewards and accolades of fulfilling an important role in society while violently rejecting any of the obligations. Both defined by fawning sycophancy that they've defined as courage.

The more I think about it, the more I don't really want to pack the court; just blackbag the 6 justices and hold them in gitmo. They've declared war on the United States by nullifying an amendment under the color of law.

lmao of course. by the standards alito has set out, there is effectively no such thing as intentional discrimination in voting. also, so much for the purcell principle!

well, correction. the purcell principle is still in effect, it just means that late voting changes that might hurt republicans are verboten, late voting changes that might help republicans are A-OK.

If you don't understand why it's grotesque to respond to attacks on synagogues and harassment of Jews by talking about Gaza and Zionism, think about what you'd think if/when a politician responded to an attack on a mosque by complaining about Saudi Arabia or the Taliban.

This is honestly making me cry a little. It's just straight up vandalism, destroying a long-term scientific investment and undoubtedly many scientific careers for no reason at all. ("Cost savings" isn't a reason. This whole system is cheap compared with days of war.)

But maybe you're not a consequentialist. You have "principles". Okay, fine. But that means voting for people who insist on selling bombs to a country that's actively using them to kill Palestinian children does not violate your principles, but voting for Platner does.
