A Renton city council committee is discussing legalizing neighborhood retail right now. A survey result that showed 39% of Renton residents want to legalize bodegas and neighborhood cafes on all city lots was just described by a staff member as "shocking."

Happy thanksgiving! If you go out tomorrow for Black Friday, please take photos of the parking lot. Odds are, the parking lots on the largest shopping day of the year won't be filled up to capacity. Taking photos will help show how unnecessary parking minimum laws are and how much space is wasted.

Going to google maps, you can see exactly why small painted bike lanes around Huntsville are not effective at protecting cyclists. Bike lanes without a buffer or barrier are little different than no bike lane at all. maps.app.goo.gl/yQcfQWkVurPS...

There has been a lot of work done to improve walkability in the past 6 years. In short, circled is the areas seeing the most amount of mix-used walkable development, greenways, and high quality bike lanes. Primarily downtown, Lowe Mill area, and Stovehouse/campus 805 area.

Growth AND affordability is possible, and Huntsville proves that. “We’re seeing double-digit growth in pending and closed sales across the region,” realtor Matt Curtis told AL.com. “Huntsville even earned a perfect affordability score of 100 ”

If you drive from Huntsville to Atlanta, you may have seen this road was redesigned a few years ago. This is by far the worst bike lane I have ever seen. Whats even the point?

And how much Transportation is hidden in the other categories? What portion of Housing costs is the garage under your apartment building? What portion of Food is the sea of parking surrounding the supermarket? What portion of Healthcare is car-related injury and respiratory disease?

Looked into the property tax history of some areas in Huntsville and this was the best example I could find of the lost potential revenue free surface parking creates. This area lost some parking, but now generates an additional $700,000 in yearly revenue.

The "Before" looks just like Bob Wallace where Morris Elementary is. These road changes can and should be made. I have seen multiple close calls already in front of the school because of the unsafe design of the road.

Went to take photos of the new bike lane and thought "Its nice its buffered, but it being a protected bike lane would be even better. Wonder how I could turn it into a protected bike lane" And then I come up to this. Bike lane is now cleared and now partially protected :P

Huntsville can change and become more pedestrian friendly. We know that because in some parts of the city, it already has. What used to be a large road that was dangerous to cross is now a vibrant street.

Having green spaces or having an urban environment doesn't have to be 2 incompatible choices. An urban space can have a large amount of greenery.

Please add lights to your bike! I've been seeing a lot of cyclists around town recently biking at night with no lights at all. You can find cheap bike lights for around $10 on Amazon, Walmart, or similar places. Not only is not having a light at night dangerous, its illegal in Huntsville too.

I saw 14 other cyclists on Clinton Ave tonight! Thats a new record for my personally sightings! The 1 mile stretch between campus 805 and the convention center is where I see the most amount of cyclists. I wonder how the sky bridge will change things.
