everyone gets to make mistakes and make amends and be forgiven but not everyone gets to then be in positions of leadership and people who genuinely have repented after significant wrongdoing understand why they should be excluded from power

In honor of pi day today, I will also be endlessly irrational until further notice. Just a big fyi.

In a dream last night, I was at a restaurant at a fancy English manor house situation and someone at my table ordered a room temperature martini. I’m still annoyed at that figment of my imagination.

This week’s Shrinking introduced a character called Tuppence. And she’s an accountant. And I am enjoying that delightful fact more than it merits.

I have been over-perceived this week. If everyone could stop being aware of my existence (just for a little while), that would be great.

Somebody on my feed recently plugged Trader Joe’s lasagna soup, and a big thank you to whoever that was. It’s been perfect for this “I know I’m hungry but I don’t want to eat” phase. It’s comfort food and just heavy enough that I can manage a small bowl.

I miss my Christmas tree.

Not necessarily my favorite, but it has a very special place in my heart and I don’t think it gets enough credit for being such a delight.

I know it isn’t the point of this thread / post, but I think this is a fundamental aspect of my theology - a grand investment in & incarnation of delight. I truly believe one of God’s intentions for creation is delight, in & of itself. Plus mutual delight is the easiest place for love to start.

Having just rewatched it, my top answer is Psych. It didn’t sacrifice the centrality of the friendship for the sake of romance, which would have been so easy to do as an ending. Plus it had Billy Zane AND Val Kilmer.

My annual workbook has separate sections for thinking and feeling questions. And while sometimes that distinction is clear to me (for myself)…. It mostly is not. At least not practically, in how I manage & engage them… it’s my most ND / ennea5 trait, I think.

I talk a lot about AI and "male loneliness" as a lack of distress tolerance for the messy business of dealing with other humans, but the rejection (most noticeable in MAGAts and anti-vaxxers, but spreading to, sigh, everything) of the *idea of expertise* is a symptom of the same problem. (thread)

I had awful insomnia for 4mos (avg 3-4hrs sleep)… but hey! Thanks to that and stimulation issues, I read 156 books and listened to 68 audiobooks in 2025. About 90% romance until the last 2mos. Overall truly a great reading year. Lots of new authors and fun rereads. Thanks, library card!

Ending the year with a death in the family (my grandmother passed this morning)… the third major death of family or close family friends… plus my folks had several friends lose children this year. Hell of a year, 2025.

I take no leave of you, 2025. I send no compliments to your mother. You deserve no such attention. I am most seriously displeased.

A great day: Diner breakfast + work session, bakery visit, local bookstore haul, Trader Joe’s, reading break, work meeting that led to a real breakthrough, silent bookclub at a brewery (had a delicious bourbon barrel stout), Kroger + liquor store restock, leftovers dinner, prepped beef bourguignon.

Plenty of things I am grumpy about with the recent OS update (look, I hate change)… but having to double tap to go between all tabs on Safari might be the thing that breaks me.

A thing about me is that I almost never delete birthdays or anniversaries from my calendar, even if we don’t talk anymore. Maybe if it’s been more than 10yrs or someone became a nemesis… My calendar is as much an organizational tool as it is a living memorial to people in my life.

I was sitting outside a bar waiting for a friend, and Matt Czuchry walked by several times in both directions… I figured he was early to meet someone at a restaurant nearby but it made him look like a lost puppy. I texted my niece (a big GG fan) about it & she responded with “#teamlogan forever.”

This is my 2nd year keeping notes on my year (I make a template in my notes app). I track things I watch, listen to, read, etc. + simple notes from the month like “lunch with Joe was fun!” & “sick on my birthday sucks.” I do my best (& miss things), but it’s so helpful and fun to review at year end.
