It’s just nasty there now. I hit my breaking point. While I was less online there the past year, every time I went back I felt dehumanized. Like I had to appeal & remind folks there that I’m a person or that the people they’re insulting is a person. It’s sad cos I did make a lot of friends there.

I deleted my twitter account and decided to be more active here instead. I’ve been on twitter for a decade or so now — and I’m just not a big fan of what it had become.

I realized I like conversations & bite-size knowledge-sharing more than publishing. This heavily disadvantages me as an academic. But also why I like being in social media.

Has anyone noticed that if you search ChatGPT AND environmental impacts, or ChatGPT AND climate change, or ChatGPT AND water consumption on Google Scholar, the first four pages show only articles with positive views of ChatGPT? Shaolei Ren et al.'s research articles don't even appear.

Maligamu' means 'caring' in Pulangiyen. This is such a beautiful gift. My ex & I have been trying our best to support a Pulangiyen student in his Anthro studies. Our support is not perfect, but I hope that he is able to achieve his dreams for himself, his family, & his community.

I've learned more about care, solidarity, and collectivity from my queer platonic polycules than from any other formations I've been a part of.

Queerness is definitely not just about attraction or sexual activity. It's about forging relations and sociality beyond cisheteronormative and patriarchal norms.

I was reading Elizabeth's Colston chapter on displacement last night. And it's interesting--and definitely baffling--to know that the "development displaced" is not considered a political category in international law.

I think it's a safe bet that the reduction will be even greater among disabled people - including autistic people, who are currently several times more likely to die by suicide than the population at large.

A large part of my understanding of more-than-human relations as well as of queerness are shaped by my understanding of neurodiversity AND vice versa. My hopes for justice - environmental justice, disability justice, queer utopia - mutually reinforce each other.

Had the chance to engage and contribute to Philippine queer studies during the UGAT conference. Thankful for my co-panelists Amiel and Danilo. Thankful also to the input and interactions with the audience.

When I was 5, I loved science, which I took to be planets and magnets and chemicals and shit. Soon I realized science was a collective human activity, and these were just the objects of its attention. Anyway, whenever I read an OpEd on how science isn't political, I think "Are you 5 years old?"

Atm i'm being asked almost every week to give more uni talks, mainly as there are neurodivergent students interested in neurodiversity theory everywhere. It's nice to be asked, but would be much nicer if humanities departments actually advertised paid, neurodiversity themed lectureships.

I don't believe in toxic positivity. I think it's a massive lie. But I do believe in radical optimism.

This talk seriously transgressed my sense of justice tho. So I'm feeling fired up to read more texts that place a critical eye on psychiatry + the hegemony of biomedical approaches to well-being.

I should read Health Communism soon. But I still have Andrew Flachs' Cultivating Knowledge and Rahul Ranjan's The Political Life of Memory. Both I'm equally excited to read also.

One of my goals in the next five years is to build a community library. I want to share my love of reading to kids in the barrio where I grew up. I want them to have easier access to literature than I did.

Sent an ss of @drrobertchapman.bsky.social's book to a clinic's page cos I felt their talk "Mental Health in the Workplace" was myopic & w/ some potential dangers. Seriously considering buying them a copy of Empire of Normality, hope they read it, & take time to reflect on their entrenched ideology.

One thing I learned about myself is I don't like being infantilized. And unfortunately, many doctors tend to do that to their patients. Especially in psychiatry... So I'm planning to write a paper about it. Lol.
